Livermore wine history goes back over 130 years. Some of the oldest remaining family run wineries in the US like Wente and Concannon still call Livermore home but it's embracing the modern as well as the old. A new generation of smaller Livermore Wineries are producing Varietal wines with grapes normally used for blends like Petite Verdot, Souzao, Touriga Nacional and Roussanne, often with spectacular results. Zinfandel is a standard produced by most Livermore Winemakers as well. It's proximity to the South and East Bay, its quality of wine and the affordable prices make this a day or weekend trip that shouldn't be missed.
