Full disclosure...I usually don't express opinions in our main site (I leave that to our blog section), but I disagree with AVA designations like the Southern Oregon AVA.  It was created to allow more marketing power for the wineries of the pre-existing Rogue Valley and Umpqua Valley AVAs.  Much of it doesn't seem to meet the typical criteria that is needed to create an unique AVA.  If you wish to see what the TTB (the branch of the US government that regulates AVA designations), we've provided a link.
