Location:  The Snake River Valley AVA is partially located in eastern Oregon but lies primarily in southwestern Idaho.  Its eastern point approaches Idaho Falls in central Idaho and it stretches along a large portion of the valley into Malhuer and Baker Counties.
Climate:  Much of the Snake River Valley AVA is classified as a high dessert and roughly ten inches of rainfall per year so can require extensive summer irrigation.  It has severe temperature swings with winter temperatures routinely dropping into the teens and summer temperatures in the mid 80s.
Comments:  Although containing a very small number of wineries, the Snake River is home to Southeastern Oregon and Idaho's only recognized wine region.
