Vinturi Review

Vinturi Review

Pouring Wine Through A Vinturi

Gadget Review: Vinturi for Red Wine
Purchased at: A winery but they are available from hundreds of internet web sites as well as various kitchen and home ware stores.
Cost: Pricing ranges from $30.00 to $35.00

Introduction:
Because this is far and away the most common wine breathing “gadget”, we decided that a Vinturi review was the first we would do in our blog series on techniques and gadgets designed to accelerate wine breathing. Besides providing useful advise to our readers (we hope it’s useful at least or this was a colossal waste of time), I have a vested interest in seeing the results of these blogs. I’m inherently not a patient person. I aspire to learn to be as patient as a two year old in a toy shop. Yes, I’m actually that bad – well, almost that bad – I don’t believe I have actually thrown a serious tantrum since I was a kid although my wife may disagree. Read More→

How to Pair Tempranillo Wine with Food

Tempranillo

Tempranillo

It’s a shame Tempranillo doesn’t get more love in the US. It’s the primary grape in Spain’s most famous red wine blend, Rioja. Most of the Tempranillo grown in the US comes from warmer regions of California and Tempranillo pairs with food extremely well. If you are going to pair Tempranillo with food, we suggest leaning to flavors that are mildly spicy. Cajun is a particular favorite of mine, as long as it’s not over the top with heat.

Temecula and Ramona Wine Tasting – Introduction

Date:
May 16th and 17th, 2013

General Location:
The Temecula Valley is roughly 40 minutes south of Riverside in the inland empire of the greater LA area.  The Ramona Valley lies midway between San Diego and Temecula and is about 20 minutes off of Highway 15.

Introduction:
Our trip to the Temecula and Ramona areas involved more Wineries than we originally planned on visiting so we’ve broken this up into four tasting posts with this serving as an introduction. That allows us to keep the length down for those us with short attention spans. There are/will be (depending upon when you are reading this) two posts for the Temecula Valley wine tasting and two for the Ramona Valley, and frankly, you couldn’t find two areas as geographically close together, that offer such different wine tasting experiences.
